Terrytown boy, 10, leads Easter parade

Danny Caro, a 10-year-old Terrytown resident, will lead the 13th annual Easter Parade and Party for Special Children Sunday at 3 p.m. in Lakeview.

The Kid’s Dream organization is sponsoring the event for about 400 children from Jefferson, Orleans, Plaquemines, St. Bernard, St. Charles and St. Tammany parishes.

Rebecca Ann Downey of St. Charles parish will be Cinderella to Danny’s Prince Charming.

Danny is the Son of John and Marilyn Caro and is a fifth-grader at Terrytown Academy.

The children will begin their day with a party from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m., then those who are able will board four forty foot floats loaded with candy to throw.

Saints quarterback Joh Fourcade will be grand marshal of the 65-unit parade that begins at Lenfant’s, 5200 Canal Blvd., and proceeds on Canal Boulevard to Robert E. Lee Boulevard, where the parade will turn and head back to Lenfant’s.

Also riding in the parade will be Mr. and Mrs. Peter Rabbit, Louisiana National Guard units, women wearing colorful Easter bonnets, Shrine and Grotto units, Veterans of Foreign Wars groups, horse units, bands, dance teams, and marching groups.

The children will throw plastic Easter cups, trinkets and candy.
